Health Science Academy was approved as a partner of the United Sates Government - President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief in 2006. This funding has enabled us to offer funded training to health practitioners in all provinces. This scholarship is usually offered to Government employee’s and sometimes given away as a prize during corporate functions to relevant parties. PEPFAR offers the same courses as HSA excluding Industry Courses and a few courses exclusive to PEPFAR.
Training that we are offering through this scholarship is:
- Pharmacist’s Assistant ( Basic and Post basic level)
- Dispensing Practitioner’s course
- Adherence Counselling for ART
- Community Based Care
- Pharmacovigilance
The service model used in the project is on-the-job training wherever possible in order to limit time away from the workplace. Training is facilitated through workshops by qualified facilitators. Assessment is offered at decentralized venues so that minimal costs are incurred by participants on travel and none on accommodation.
The focus of the project is to develop pharmaceutical capacity in support of HIV/AIDS treatment in particular and ensure access to safe, efficient and effective drug therapy within the public sector in general.
Funding includes the following:
- Registration with Health Science Academy
- Induction orientation workshops
- One set of training manuals
- One assessment per module/per course where applicable
- Moderation of assessment documentation according to Health Science Academy Standard Operating Procedures and in alignment with SAQA
- Certification on successful completion of all training requirements.
Study materials for all activities has been developed by leading experts in relevant specialties and the course content is continually updated and refined to meet the needs of the individuals being trained.
